Since opening in Australia in 2001, we’ve consistently delivered on our promise to provide high- quality groceries at permanently low prices. We are the only local supermarket to have never offered single-use plastic bags in any of the 580+ stores we now operate and have built a 1,800-strong award-winning product range.
Our Good Different approach means we offer less product lines than other supermarkets to take the guess work out of shopping. We have created exclusive product lines that are as good, if not better, than our branded counterparts at a fraction of the cost, saving both time and money for customers. This means our customers can expect to find consistent and reliable value every time they shop with us. How much value? Check out our latest Price Report here.

In 2001, our first two Australian stores opened at Bankstown Airport and Marrickville in the Greater Sydney area.
For the first time, the ALDI catalogue was delivered into Aussies’ letterboxes. Today, it’s still the place customers find the latest Special Buys™, Super Savers and in-season fruit and veg. Check out our digital catalogue (added to the website in 2020) here!
Our customers loved Special Buys™ so much, that we added a second Special Buys™ sale date to every week of the year. Wednesdays and Saturdays have been the best days of the week ever since.
In August 2020, we became the first Australian supermarket to commit to being powered by 100% renewable electricity by the end of 2021. In June 2021, we achieved this goal – six months ahead of schedule. All of our stores, offices and warehouses are now powered by renewable electricity. Find out more here.
Today, we operate more than 580 stores in six states and territories directly employing more than 14,500 people and working with more than 1,000 Australian business partners each day.
